Terms of Service, Privacy & Community Standards
Binshare is a UK-based platform connecting homeowners and businesses with licensed waste carriers, and enabling neighbours to share spare bin and skip space. By using the Binshare app you agree to the terms below. Last updated February 2026.
The marketing site at binshare.co.uk describes our mission. This page is the authoritative agreement between you and Binshare for use of the app.
1. Who we are & what Binshare does
Binshare is a digital marketplace operated in the UK. We connect three groups of people: (a) homeowners and businesses who need to dispose of waste; (b) licensed waste carriers holding a valid Environment Agency Waste Carrier Licence; and (c) bin-space hosts who rent out unused capacity in their bins or skips to neighbours.
Binshare facilitates introductions, verification, payments, reviews and dispute handling. We are not a party to the underlying collection or disposal contract between users — that remains a direct contract between the homeowner and the carrier (or between the renter and the bin-space host).
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a binding contract under UK law to use Binshare.
You must keep your account details accurate. You're responsible for all activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorised use, contact us immediately at support@binshare.co.uk.
Carriers must hold a valid Environment Agency Waste Carrier Licence and submit a copy for verification before they can bid on jobs. We verify against the Environment Agency public register. We may suspend or remove your account if your licence is revoked, expires, or cannot be verified.
Carriers are independent contractors, not Binshare employees. Binshare is a lead-generation marketplace that connects independent licensed waste carriers with customers. Carriers operate their own businesses, set their own prices, decide which jobs to bid on, and are solely responsible for their own taxes, insurance (including business and vehicle insurance), vehicles, equipment and compliance with all UK waste-disposal regulations. Binshare does not employ carriers, supervise their work, provide tools or training, set hours, or guarantee any volume of work. Nothing in these Terms creates an employment, agency, partnership or joint-venture relationship between Binshare and a carrier.
3. Posting waste, bidding & accepting jobs
When you post waste, you confirm: (a) you have the legal right to dispose of it; (b) the photos and description are accurate; (c) the waste is not on our prohibited list (see section 6).
When a carrier accepts your job and you pay, you enter a direct contract with that carrier for the agreed pickup. Carriers must honour the price and pickup time quoted in their bid. Homeowners must give safe, lawful access to the waste.
Once paid, jobs can be cancelled by the homeowner. Refunds are issued in full only when cancellation occurs at least 24 hours before the agreed pickup time. Within 24 hours the carrier keeps the payment as compensation for the reserved slot.
4. Sharing bin & skip space
Bin-space hosts confirm the listed bin or skip is theirs to share, the listed capacity is available, and the listed accepted waste types are accurate.
Renters must only deposit the waste type they declared at checkout. Renters must upload a drop-off photo after disposal — this protects both sides.
If the host reports a mismatch between the declared waste and what was actually deposited, funds are placed on hold and our admin team reviews evidence before issuing a refund or releasing payment.
5. Payments, platform fee & 24-hour escrow
All payments are processed by Stripe. Binshare does not store card details. Prices are shown in GBP including all platform fees before you confirm payment.
A 5% Binshare service fee is added to every transaction. The fee covers identity & licence verification, payment processing, support and dispute handling.
Escrow. When a waste-collection job is marked complete, the carrier's payout is held in escrow for 24 hours. If neither party files a dispute in that window, funds release automatically to the carrier. Filing a dispute (see section 7) freezes the funds pending admin review.
Refunds, when issued, are returned to the original card via Stripe and typically take 5–10 business days to clear depending on your bank.
6. Prohibited waste & banned content
The following may never be posted, deposited in shared bins, or collected via Binshare:
- Asbestos, clinical or medical waste, controlled drugs, weapons or ammunition
- Hazardous chemicals, liquids, paints, oils, batteries or solvents — unless explicitly handled by a licensed hazardous-waste carrier outside the bin-sharing flow
- Items requiring special handling under UK law (fluorescent tubes, refrigerants, large electricals containing CFCs)
- Items you do not legally own, stolen goods, or anything that would breach UK environmental or criminal law
Bin listings declare a permitted-waste list (Household, Recycling, Garden, Bulky furniture, Cardboard). Anything outside that list will be rejected by the platform and is grounds for a dispute and account strike.
7. Disputes, reviews & enforcement
Disputes. Within the 24-hour escrow window, either the homeowner or the carrier may file a dispute on a completed job. Bin-space hosts may report a waste-type mismatch on rentals. Disputes pause the relevant funds until our admin team rules. Decisions are: refund the customer or release the funds to the worker. Decisions are recorded with reason and timestamp and notified to both parties.
Reviews. Both sides may leave a rating (1–5) and comment after a completed job. Reviews must reflect a real experience. Fake or retaliatory reviews will be removed.
Strikes & suspension. Behaviour that breaches these terms — fraudulent posts, banned waste, non-completion, abuse, fly-tipping — earns a strike. Three strikes auto-suspends an account. Admins may also suspend immediately for serious breaches. Suspended carriers cannot bid; suspended users cannot sign in. We may also report serious breaches to local authorities or the Environment Agency.
8. Privacy & data
We collect only what's needed to run the marketplace: name, email, role, location (only when you grant it for "Near me" search), photos you upload, and — for carriers — your licence number and document. Payment information is handled exclusively by Stripe.
Photos and listings you publish are visible to other Binshare users. We do not sell your personal data. We use cookies only for session and analytics. You may request a copy or deletion of your data at any time (see section 11).
We retain transaction records for 7 years to comply with UK accounting law. All other personal data is deleted within 30 days of a verified deletion request.
9. Liability
Binshare provides the platform "as is". We don't guarantee that any specific bid, listing, or collection will result in a successful outcome. We are not liable for damage caused during a waste collection or bin-share drop-off — that liability sits with the carrier or renter performing the work, who must hold appropriate insurance.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited under UK law.
10. Termination & changes
You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for breach of these terms (see section 7). On termination, in-flight transactions are settled according to escrow status and dispute outcomes.
We may update these terms when our service evolves. Material changes will be announced in-app and reflected on this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
11. Contact
For legal questions, data subject requests, account help, or to report a serious breach, email us at support@binshare.co.uk. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
